Key Account Manager – Diagnostics

Overview

Our client is a biotechnology company commercializing a groundbreaking urine-based liquid biopsy test for prostate cancer, developed from a genomic discovery originating at a top accredited university. The company is seeking a Key Account Manager to drive business development with physicians and healthcare facilities, helping expand access to a diagnostic tool designed to help doctors avoid unnecessary prostate biopsies. This is a high-impact sales role within a growing CLIA certified diagnostics organization.

What you'll do

  • Manage day-to-day sales operations within a defined geographic territory
  • Apply scientific concepts effectively within the sales process
  • Collaborate regularly with sales colleagues nationwide
  • Provide accurate territory forecasts as needed
  • Interface with Sales, Marketing, CLIA lab scientists, operations, and executive teams
  • Respond promptly to inquiries from customers, patients, providers, and partners
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and customer experience
  • Partner with lab operations on launches, conferences, and process improvements
  • Handle Protected Health Information (PHI) in compliance with HIPAA requirements
  • Complete HIPAA/PHI training upon hire
  • Stay current on the company's diagnostic offerings and services
  • Travel a minimum of 50% of the time
  • Allocate approximately 90% of working time in the field
  • Provide precise monthly forecasts broken down by physician
  • Leverage company resources such as marketing materials, speaker programs, and regional trade shows to maximize results
  • Maintain travel and expense budgets with accuracy and integrity
  • Maintain high accountability for administrative tasks including CRM utilization and weekly reporting
  • Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and company codes of conduct

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5-10 years of experience selling into physician offices and healthcare networks
  • Documented history of sales achievement
  • Ability to build trusted relationships with senior-level healthcare professionals
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to interact and negotiate with individuals at all organizational levels, from individual contributors to executives
  • Experience with CRM systems and Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the work week
  • Ability to lift boxes and hand-deliver diagnostic kits to physician offices
  • Strong analytical skills to assess performance trends and operational metrics
  • Proven root-cause analysis and problem-solving abilities
  • Background spanning clinical labs, marketing, and sales
  • Experience handling PHI

Preferred qualifications

  • Previous sales experience in Urology or Diagnostics strongly preferred
