Overview
An established industrial hardware distributor serving a wide range of sectors—including transportation, aviation, facilities maintenance, aerospace, medical, military, marine, power generation, manufacturing, government, and heavy equipment—is seeking a Route Sales Manager. This role operates a fully stocked mobile store, bringing industrial hardware products and service directly to customers within a defined territory.
What you'll do
- Develop new sales prospects through research, referrals, and calls on businesses near existing customers
- Make face-to-face calls on cold and warm sales prospects
- Present products and services using sample boards, product demonstrations, and the mobile store
- Maintain the cleanliness, operation, marketing, and functionality of the mobile store
- Submit complete and accurate daily business reports detailing sales orders and prospect calls
- Maintain customer contact information—including notes, names, phone numbers, and addresses—using company software
Required qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must reside within the assigned territory
- Must be able to purchase or lease an approved mobile store vehicle
- Must maintain a clean driving history
- Physical ability to kneel and bend to the floor on a regular basis
- Strong tenured work background with no job hopping; maximum of 3 companies over the past 10 years
- Excellent analytical, reasoning, and organizational skills
- Proficiency with databases, spreadsheets, email, and common business applications
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with a proven history of goal attainment
Preferred qualifications
- Outside industrial sales experience, especially in route or industrial sales
