Overview

A long-established, family-owned industrial hardware distributor is seeking a Route Sales Manager to operate a fully stocked mobile store serving customers across transportation, aviation, facilities maintenance, aerospace, medical, military, marine, power generation, manufacturing, federal/local government, and heavy equipment sectors. This role brings industrial hardware and supplies directly to customers within a defined territory, combining sales, service, and mobile retail operations.

What you'll do

• Develop new sales prospects through research, referrals, and calls on businesses near existing customers
• Make face-to-face calls on cold and warm sales prospects
• Present products and services using sample boards, product demonstrations, and the mobile store
• Maintain the cleanliness, operation, marketing, and functionality of the mobile store
• Submit complete and accurate daily business reports detailing sales orders and prospect calls
• Maintain customer contact information, including notes, names, phone numbers, and addresses, using company software

Required qualifications

• Must reside within the assigned territory
• Must be able to purchase or lease an approved mobile store vehicle
• Must maintain a clean driving history
• Must have the physical ability to kneel and bend to the floor on a regular basis
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Strong tenured work background with no job hopping; ideally a maximum of 3 companies over the past 10 years
• Excellent analytical, reasoning, and organizational skills
• Proficiency with databases, spreadsheets, email, and common business applications
• Demonstrated ability to work independently with a proven history of goal attainment

Preferred qualifications

• Outside industrial sales experience, especially in route or industrial sales
