Overview

An aerospace aftermarket organization is seeking an experienced Repair Engineer to support its Chula Vista, CA operations. This role is responsible for developing and approving structural repairs and allowable damage limits for commercial aircraft nacelle components, and is important for maintaining the airworthiness and repairability of complex aerospace structures. The right candidate will work independently, exercise sound engineering judgment, support customers on complex technical issues, and provide technical guidance to other engineers.

What you'll do

  • Develop engineering solutions and repair instructions for a variety of aerospace nacelle components and programs.
  • Design and support repair development for metallic and composite aircraft structures.
  • Develop and approve repair concepts and allowable damage limits for Structural Repair Manual (SRM) applications.
  • Work closely with production engineering to evaluate design changes and their impact on structural maintainability, repairability, and maintenance documentation.
  • Support the development and expansion of repairs for SRM, CMM, and AMM documentation.
  • Work with engine manufacturers, airframers, and other customers to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Prepare engineering repair packages for SRM/CMM repair development and submission to the Type Certificate Holder.
  • Serve as a technical point of contact for internal and external customers.
  • Communicate technical recommendations and present engineering solutions to customers and management.
  • Manage multiple repair assignments in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior engineers.
  • Support engineering standardization and process improvements designed to improve repair processing times.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Approximately 5 years of relevant aerospace engineering experience.
  • Experience with aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) and commercial aviation regulatory requirements.
  • Experience developing repairs for aircraft metallic and/or composite structures.
  • Experience with repair development involving nacelle and exhaust structures.
  • Working knowledge of aerospace maintenance manuals, including SRM, ASR, CMM, and AMM.
  • Strong technical writing and documentation skills.
  • Experience working in a customer-facing or customer-support engineering role.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.

Preferred qualifications

  • CATIA V5 experience.
  • FiberSim experience.
  • Detailed understanding of aerospace nacelle systems.
  • Familiarity with specialty manufacturing processes used for aerospace components.
  • Experience with automation tools such as Excel VBA and Visual Basic.
