Overview

A public school district is seeking a dedicated Physical Therapist to support pediatric students in a school-based setting. This role offers the chance to help students build strength, confidence, and independence through individualized therapeutic care, while working within a collaborative, interdisciplinary educational and medical team.

What you'll do

• Review therapy referrals and assess students' physical needs
• Develop and implement treatment plans including therapeutic exercise, gait training, soft tissue techniques, modalities, and functional training
• Teach proper use of mobility aids, braces, prosthetics, and adaptive equipment
• Monitor progress and adjust treatment plans as needed
• Collaborate with physicians and care team members to ensure coordinated care
• Complete all required documentation, including evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries
• Provide direction to rehab support staff
• Maintain safety standards, equipment, and infection control procedures
• Contribute to quality initiatives, meetings, and committees
• Assist with student transport and provide coverage for senior therapists as needed
• Participate in ongoing education, trainings, and professional development
• Deliver age-appropriate care across all populations
• Report to the Clinical Coordinator of Rehab Services

Required qualifications

• Licensed (or eligible for licensure) as a Physical Therapist in New York State
• BLS certification required within 90 days of hire
• Ability to lift 30 lbs independently and up to 150 lbs with assistance
• Ability to perform moderate to significant physical activity including lifting, pushing, and pulling
• Adherence to universal precautions and safety protocols; Category II exposure risk (occasional exposure to blood/body fluids)
