Location: Elmira, NY | Schedule: Full-time, Day Shift, on-site (float across nearby locations) | Compensation: Sign-on bonus eligibility up to $15,000

Overview

A well-established regional health organization in the Southern Finger Lakes region of New York is seeking a Physical Therapist for a float role spanning multiple rehabilitation locations, including Bath, NY and Elmira, NY. This position offers variety, collaboration, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact across inpatient and outpatient settings while working within a supportive, patient-centered care team.

What you'll do

• Review requisitions for Physical Therapy and evaluate patients' physical condition and needs
• Develop and implement individualized, corrective exercise and treatment programs
• Determine appropriate equipment use, application, and body positioning for treatments
• Administer treatments such as exercise, gait training, soft tissue mobility, whirlpool, hot packs, ultrasound, paraffin, ice packs, electrical stimulation, and traction
• Educate patients on treatment programs and proper use of assistive devices including wheelchairs, crutches, canes, braces, and prosthetics
• Adjust treatment plans based on patient progress and consult with physicians as needed
• Complete required documentation including evaluations, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries
• Communicate effectively with nursing staff and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care
• Provide direction to support staff and assume Senior Therapist responsibilities in their absence
• Adhere to departmental policies, quality initiatives, and safety protocols, including fire safety and disaster procedures
• Use equipment safely, comply with Universal Precautions, and use required protective equipment
• Report unsafe conditions and participate in safety programs
• Assist with care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies
• Participate in meetings and committees as required
• Assist with patient transport when needed
• Engage in ongoing education, workshops, and professional development, completing all mandatory annual training
• Provide age-appropriate, compassionate care across all populations including neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients

Required qualifications

• Must be licensed, or eligible for licensure, to practice Physical Therapy in New York State at time of hire
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days of hire
• Ability to lift at least 30 pounds independently and up to 150 pounds with assistance

Preferred qualifications

• Hospital experience preferred
