Overview
An established Long Term Care facility is seeking a Nurse Manager to lead its Special Needs Unit. This Direct Hire, career-enhancing role offers the opportunity to shape nursing care delivery and make a meaningful difference in the lives of residents and their families.
What you'll do
- Communicate effectively with staff, patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare team members
- Apply management systems and processes to lead others toward organizational objectives
- Assess departmental needs, develop and implement interventions, and evaluate their effectiveness
- Demonstrate basic management competencies appropriate to the role
- Facilitate project management, work effectively under pressure, meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities, and model teamwork
- Maintain familiarity with DOH requirements
- Implement strategies to achieve uncompromising quality, exceptional patient safety, and an outstanding patient/resident/family experience
- Create an environment that fosters staff development, empowerment, collegial relationships, and best practice in nursing care
- Allocate resources to promote efficient, effective, compassionate, and fiscally responsible nursing care
- Coordinate care across department lines, promoting interdisciplinary collaboration and communication
- Participate in recruitment, selection, and retention of personnel
- Ensure appropriate orientation, education, credentialing, and continuing professional development for staff
- Supervise CNA Trainees, CNAs, Senior CNAs, LPNs, RNs, and Unit Clerks
- Provide age-appropriate, population-specific care tailored to each resident's unique needs
Required qualifications
- At least 2 years of recent manager experience in a LTC Facility
- Graduate from an accredited Registered Professional Nurse Program
- Current NYS License to practice as a Professional Registered Nurse
- Two years of Nursing experience or Two years of Long Term Care experience
- Computer literacy with word processing, spreadsheets, and PowerPoint
- Work history in Long Term Care
Preferred qualifications
- Experience as a Nurse Manager or Nursing Supervisor
- Experience with a Special Needs Unit
- Supervisor or Management experience
- Experience with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Meditech
Compensation and benefits
- Salary range of $90,000.00-105,000.00, based on experience
