Overview
A well-established, highly profitable regional CPA firm is seeking a Tax Manager to join its growing team. This role offers exposure to both SEC and closely held clients across diverse industries, along with a clear path toward partnership.
What you'll do
- Perform technical tax review and approval of all tax returns and governmental tax examinations of any complexity
- Participate actively in client meetings and tax planning efforts, assisting the Auditing and Accounting Department with larger clients
- Assume client service responsibility for assigned clients or those delegated from a partner or manager
- Delegate and manage governmental tax examinations; may represent clients before taxing authorities
- Work occasional overtime throughout the year, with heavy overtime (potentially exceeding 55 hours per week) required from January 1 to April 15
- Participate in the firm's practice development efforts through referral sources, community, and industry activities
- Supervise and train seniors, semi-seniors, and staff accountants
- Develop trained staff by issuing performance evaluations, creating training aids, and instructing in professional development programs
Required qualifications
- At least five (5) years' experience in public accounting, with proven progression in tax return complexity, scope, and research
- At least two (2) years' experience representing clients before taxing authorities
- Minimum of one (1) year experience supervising and directing the work of tax preparers
- Bachelor's degree in accounting
Preferred qualifications
- Master's degree in taxation preferred
