Overview

An established automotive manufacturer is seeking an Assistant Plant Manager to drive continuous improvement in production performance and customer satisfaction. This role provides direct leadership to the Operations team and plays a key part in ensuring manufacturing processes meet quality, cost, and schedule targets, with required experience in Automated Welding operations.

What you'll do

• Drive continuous improvement in production key measure performance and customer satisfaction for the plant
• Assure adequate staffing and training to execute production and operational plans
• Complete departmental training and development plans annually
• Complete annual performance reviews of direct reports and review indirect reports within the Operations Department
• Lead the operations function, providing direct leadership to all Operations staff
• Supervise production personnel to ensure manufacturing processes run within budget and schedule
• Maintain awareness of customer shipping requirements, work schedules, and quality levels to meet schedules while ensuring quality and controlling costs
• Manage Production Superintendents and/or Supervisors on daily schedules, staffing, and production attainment
• Oversee hiring and training of technical production employees to ensure a competent workforce
• Drive excellence in customer and internal quality through process standardization and teamwork
• Set operational performance goals aligned with Profit Plan targets
• Study daily operating results, meet daily with subordinates, and maintain daily contact with department heads on performance gaps
• Direct and/or support investigation of operational issues and follow up to ensure resolution or determine next steps
• Establish individual personnel objectives and help develop employee potential and managerial capabilities
• Consult with the Plant Controller to develop annual operating budgets and controls
• Supply accounting with staffing requirements for costing and annual profit planning
• Provide accounting with monthly labor-hour estimates of indirect and direct labor for monthly profit forecasting; determine purchased burden on supplies and materials for accurate cost control
• Support plant safety and continuous improvement programs by ensuring operations involvement in implementation into the manufacturing process

Required qualifications

• Minimum 10 years working in a production leadership role in the automotive manufacturing environment
• Knowledge of IATF 16949 requirements
• Fluent in MS Office applications
• Ability to analyze complex data and communicate findings in verbal or presentation format
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent
• Quality and lean management experience
• Experience in Automated Welding operations

Preferred qualifications

• Experience in welding and automated assembly strongly desired
