Overview
A defense- and technology-focused organization is seeking a Senior Wireless Communications Systems Engineer to contribute across all phases of wireless technology projects, from planning and design through implementation, prototyping, verification, and validation. This is a hybrid role based in Los Angeles, CA, requiring a minimum of 3 days on-site per week (Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays).
What you'll do
- Perform system design and requirement specification
- Develop, simulate, implement, and test algorithms
- Conduct system performance simulation, benchmarking, and testing
- Support fixed point modeling and FPGA design and verification
- Collaborate with FPGA and software development teams on implementation and troubleshooting
- Lead multi-disciplinary engineering teams for product and feature development as needed
- Set, track, and drive development schedules and tasks
- Design and participate in lab and field testing and troubleshooting
- Prepare technical materials and documentation
- Participate in R&D business development and capture efforts as needed
- Analyze current products and technologies and collaborate on future enhancements and strategies
- Perform other related duties as needed
- Travel infrequently to support customer interactions or test and demonstration events
What you'll need
- M.S. or Ph.D. in wireless communications and signal processing
- A minimum of 7 years of experience designing and developing wireless systems
- Experience across the complete wireless technology development cycle, from design to field testing
- Extensive knowledge of RF propagation and channel modeling
- Extensive knowledge of digital communication systems, including RF subsystems, synchronization, channel estimation, and channel coding
- Extensive knowledge of signal processing algorithms, MIMO, and OFDM
- Extensive experience modeling and mitigating RF impairments such as AGC, phase noise, and frequency/clock offset
- Experience with fixed point modeling, implementation, and verification
- Expert-level MATLAB programming and simulation skills
- Must be a U.S. Citizen due to government contract requirements
- Employment contingent upon successful clearance of a background check
Compensation and benefits
- $140,000 - $200,000 per year
