Overview
A well-established, highly profitable regional CPA firm is seeking a Tax Senior Manager to join its growing team. This role offers a clear path to Partner and the opportunity to serve as a technical tax expert while helping guide the firm's staff and client service standards.
What you'll do
- Perform technical tax review and approval of all tax returns and governmental tax examinations of any complexity
- Serve as a subject matter expert in discipline or industry
- Assume full responsibility for larger tax returns and delegate to tax preparers as needed
- Assume client service responsibility for clients worked with directly or as delegated from the Partner
- Delegate and manage governmental tax examinations; may represent clients before appropriate taxing authorities
- Develop trained staff through recruiting, performance evaluations, development training aids, and acting as an instructor in professional development programs
- Ensure smooth flow of tax returns through the preparation system for accurate, complete, and timely delivery
- Ensure accurate and timely billing and collection processes
- Prepare other reports and projects as requested by partners
- Research and evaluate tax preparation and tax research software for recommendation to partners
- Participate in firm practice development through referral sources, community, and industry activities
Required qualifications
- Demonstrated knowledge of current tax laws
- Proficiency in computer tax preparation, tax research, and tax planning software programs
- Occasional overtime work required throughout the year; heavy overtime from January 1 to April 15, may exceed 55 hours per week
- Seven to ten years' experience in public accounting, demonstrating proven progression in tax complexity, scope, and research
- At least two (2) years' experience representing clients before taxing authorities
- Minimum one (1) year experience supervising and directing work of tax preparers
- Bachelor's degree in accounting required
- Minimum of forty hours of continuing education required each year
- Current and valid certified public accountant's license required
- Must be a member in good standing with the American Institute of CPAs
Preferred qualifications
- Master's degree in taxation preferred
