Location: Hartford, CT | Schedule: Full-time, on-site with travel

Overview

A manufacturer of precision CNC machine tools is seeking a Swiss CNC Applications Engineer to join its team serving the Hartford, CT area. This role blends hands-on technical expertise with customer-facing engineering support, guiding clients through turnkey machining projects from initial evaluation to successful implementation. The position is key to ensuring customers get the most out of their machine tool investments.

What you'll do

• Travel to customer sites to provide on-site training and engineering assistance
• Develop and implement custom demonstrations, and train customers in the safe setup and operation of CNC machining centers, lathes, grinders, Swiss style lathes, and/or multi-tasking machines
• Lead pre-sale activities including customer visits, opportunity evaluation, machine assessment and recommendations, part processing guidance, and turnkey proposal development
• Manage turnkey projects, demonstrations, and other customer-related initiatives to ensure on-time, on-budget completion
• Prepare accurate cost estimates, write engineering reports, and interpret technical plans and specifications

Required qualifications

• Experience in Sliding Headstock (Swiss) CNC machine tool related engineering and manufacturing
• In-depth knowledge of the machine tool industry and relevant product lines, with the ability to maintain and build on this expertise
• Knowledge of Fanuc based controls
• Strong ability to think quickly, assess situations, and make sound decisions

Preferred qualifications

• 5-axis experience is a plus
• Experience with CAD/CAM software preferred but not required
