Overview
A defense-focused technology company is seeking a full-time Senior Embedded Software Engineer to join its Software Engineering team, reporting to the Director of Software Engineering. This role contributes to the development of advanced radio systems and research projects, working on device drivers, networking functions, encryption, and security features. The position is based in Los Angeles, CA, on a hybrid schedule requiring a minimum of 3 days onsite per week (Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays).
What you'll do
- Implement software for MAC (Medium Access Control) and mobile ad-hoc networking routing protocols
- Develop network management software and its web interface
- Implement various security protocols and encryption algorithms
- Build audio streaming and push-to-talk voice applications
- Analyze and improve product security and robustness to meet regulatory requirements such as NIST FIPS 140-3 and NIAP Common Criteria
- Develop testing software for product performance and reliability testing
- Develop and maintain device drivers and board support packages for ARM and RISC-V based systems
- Perform Linux system customization and scripting
What you'll need
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
- 5+ years of relevant embedded systems software development experience
- Expertise in C programming and experience with Linux kernel driver development
- Must be a U.S. Citizen due to U.S. government contracts; employment is contingent upon successful clearance of a background check
- Preferred: knowledge and experience with security protocols and encryption algorithms such as the CNSA suite
- Preferred: experience with socket programming and various Internet/Ethernet protocols
- Preferred: understanding of MAC and networking layers of communication systems
- Preferred: experience with AMD UltraScale+, MPSoC, and Microchip Polarfire SoC board support package development
- Preferred: experience with IPsec (Internet Protocol Security)
- Preferred: experience with Linux Interrupt Service Routine development
Compensation and benefits
- $135,000 - $200,000 a year (pay range is not guaranteed and varies based on experience and qualifications)
