Overview
A well-established civil construction firm serving the Nashville, TN market is seeking a Senior Paving Estimator to lead and direct its paving department. This role is central to the company's ability to win competitive bids and successfully execute paving, grading, and excavation projects.
What you'll do
- Analyze drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare detailed cost estimates
- Lead bid processes for public and private sector projects
- Identify labor, materials, and time requirements by studying proposals and plans
- Solicit and analyze subcontractor and supplier quotes
- Prepare bid packages and present final estimates to senior management
- Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits when necessary
- Provide value engineering recommendations
- Maintain historical cost data and develop estimating templates and tools
- Mentor junior estimators and contribute to process improvements
Required qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as an estimator in the civil (paving) industry
- Proven track record of estimating a range of civil projects (excavation, paving, grading, etc.)
- Excellent communication, client/business development, and negotiation abilities
- Strong sense of urgency in submitting complete, on-time bids
Preferred qualifications
- Proficiency in Excel and Bluebeam preferred
- Familiarity with HeavyBid, Bid-To-Win, and AGTEK preferred but not required
