Location: Pittsburgh, PA | Schedule: Full-time, on-site | Compensation: $75,000 - $105,000 + Quarterly Bonuses + Generous 401K

Overview

An established manufacturer specializing in steel manufacturing and ground control solutions is seeking a Quality Engineer to join its team. This role is central to testing new and existing products, supporting supplier quality and vendor development, and resolving manufacturing or supplier product issues. The position offers the opportunity to collaborate closely with Engineering, Purchasing, and Quality teams as well as manufacturing facilities and suppliers to ensure all products meet required standards.

What you'll do

  • Perform lab testing and organizational tasks promptly, with guidance from Engineering
  • Apply engineering principles to perform accurate calculations and analyses, and determine necessary tools for testing setups
  • Assist with lab testing of manufactured or purchased products
  • Understand product drawings, specifications, and material requirements; prepare emails or reports conveying technical requirements and testing results
  • Interpret specification requirements from regulatory or industry standards for manufactured or purchased products
  • Support the creation and organization of technical documents for manufactured or purchased products
  • Participate in vendor auditing and communication to support Purchasing in acquiring quality products and developing vendors regarding technical requirements and testing
  • Assist in quality audits and testing of products as assigned
  • Use, or learn to use, lab machines such as tensile and hardness testers, including setup depending on the type of test
  • Determine proper test fixturing for industry standard testing or evaluation of specific part issues
  • Prepare samples for testing using saws, shears, bench grinders, mills, grinders, etc. as needed
  • Maintain organization of the lab and storage for incoming parts
  • Assist with a system for sample part retention by part type and supplier

Required qualifications

  • Ability to understand drawings or models created with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Inventor

Preferred qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or an equivalent relevant discipline (Mechanical or Material Science Engineering), preferred
  • 3-5 Years of relevant experience, a plus

  • $75,000 - $105,000 base salary
