Location: Syracuse, NY | Schedule: Full-time, on-site | Compensation: $50,000-$70,000 yearly

Overview

An established construction and renovation firm is seeking a Pre-Construction Estimating Administrator to support its estimating and preconstruction department. This role is central to managing client and subcontractor relationships, coordinating bid proposals, and ensuring accurate project cost data from the earliest planning stages through construction hand-off.

What you'll do

  • Supervise and enforce responsibilities of Superintendents
  • Maintain client and consultant relationships on behalf of the company
  • Oversee project purchases and ensure accurate project profit/loss statements
  • Assist Pre-construction Managers with information procurement, process set-up, and task completion
  • Participate in preconstruction training, scheduling, and performance reviews
  • Support new business development, marketing, and client procurement strategies
  • Build and maintain new and existing client relationships
  • Procure documents, plans, and specifications; assemble proposals, bids, and client presentations
  • Assist in formulating preconstruction strategies and proposals
  • Create clear scopes of work for subcontractor bids included in company proposals
  • Assist in vetting, pre-qualifying, and procuring new subcontractor and vendor relationships
  • Maintain the subcontractor database
  • Support competitive bidding, budgeting, forecasting, and client negotiations with the Preconstruction Department lead
  • Analyze potential project risk factors on a case-by-case basis
  • Prepare quantity takeoffs and subcontractor/vendor quotations for consistent bidding practices
  • Learn and apply the company's estimating software, forms, and procedures to build complete estimates
  • Maintain estimating records for each proposal type and category
  • Assist in preparing and presenting the preconstruction hand-off to the construction department
  • Support the Estimating Department in creating marketing materials
  • Canvass the market for new construction and renovation project opportunities
  • Contact owners, architects, and engineers to identify new project leads
  • Develop and send marketing materials to potential clients, with follow-up as needed
  • Coordinate bid proposal creation and ensure all required forms are completed and submitted
  • Act as liaison for bid bond, bond, and insurance requests
  • Collaborate with Estimators on project and bid proposals
  • Maintain document control of drawings, specifications, and amendments during the bid process
  • Review all proposals for completeness

Required qualifications

  • Ability to give close mental and visual attention to preparing and analyzing data and figures
  • Comfort using a computer terminal and reading detailed documents for extended periods
  • Willingness and ability to learn the company's estimating software, forms, and procedures
  • Some travel required to visit clients and support project estimating

Compensation and benefits

  • $50,000-$70,000 yearly
  • Limited relocation expenses will be considered
