Location: Mission Viejo, CA and surrounding area | Schedule: Full-time, on-site, Mon -Fri 6 AM to 6 PM (occasional Saturday coverage, 8-hour shifts) | Compensation: $23.00 to $25.00 per hour

Overview

A healthcare services provider is seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join its clinical team on a contract to hire basis for an initial 3 months assignment. This float position supports multiple area locations and plays a key role in ensuring accurate, safe, and courteous specimen collection for patients ranging from pediatric to geriatric populations.

What you'll do

• Perform blood draws and other specimen collections (e.g., urine, fecal) using straight and/or butterfly needles
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and verify all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for 100% accuracy
• Package and store specimens according to required temperature and transport protocols to maintain specimen integrity
• Clearly and courteously explain venipuncture and specimen collection procedures to patients
• Record maintenance data, perform decontamination duties, and update patient information
• Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations
• Attend annual department trainings
• Answer telephone calls and communicate laboratory results to satisfy inquiries
• Travel between multiple area locations as a float team member

Required qualifications

• CA State Phlebotomy License
• Minimum 2 years of experience (minimum 6 months performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting)
• Experience with pediatric to geriatric patient populations
• High School Diploma or GED
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
• Clean driving record and reliable transportation
• Ability to travel between area locations
