Location: Mount Pleasant, SC | Schedule: Contract, full-time, on-site (Mon-Thurs 8AM-5PM, Fri 8AM-4PM)

Overview

A healthcare services provider is seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to support its laboratory operations on a contract basis, with potential for permanent placement. This role is essential to ensuring accurate specimen collection and processing for patient care.

What you'll do

• Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance data and decontamination activities
• Collect and store specimens according to established procedures
• Clearly and courteously explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection methods (e.g., urine or fecal) as required
• Demonstrate proper technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles
• Fully understand and follow physicians' orders
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes; label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order
• Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy
• Package specimens for transport
• Store specimen samples at required temperatures, place samples in appropriate containers/tubes, label accurately, and follow protocols to maintain specimen integrity during transport
• Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations
• Attend annual department trainings
• Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries

Required qualifications

• Requires a minimum of 1 year of experience
• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment, as required in some states
• Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting
• 1+ years of experience
• Glucose testing experience
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
• High School Diploma or GED
