Overview

A healthcare services provider is seeking a skilled Phlebotomist for a contract position based in Dallas, NC, with the potential to become permanent. This role is essential to maintaining accurate specimen collection and laboratory workflow, supporting patient care through precise and compliant blood draw procedures.

What you'll do

• Perform blood draws, label specimens, and operate centrifuge equipment
• Record maintenance data and perform decontamination procedures
• Update patient information according to established protocols
• Collect and store specimens following standard procedures
• Clearly and courteously explain venipuncture and other specimen collection processes (e.g., urine or fecal) to patients
• Demonstrate proper technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles
• Fully understand and follow physicians' orders
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order
• Verify all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for accuracy
• Package specimens for transport, maintaining proper temperature and handling procedures
• Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations
• Attend annual department trainings
• Answer telephone calls and provide laboratory results to satisfy inquiries

Required qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment, as required
• Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting
• Minimum of 1 year of experience
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
• High School Diploma or GED
