OD/ID Grinder – Precision Manufacturing

Location: Houston, TX | Schedule: Full-time, on-site, 2nd shift (3:00 PM – 11:30 PM)
Overview
A growing precision manufacturing facility is seeking a skilled OD/ID Grinder to join its production team. This role is central to maintaining tight tolerances and high-quality finishes on precision-machined parts, supporting a company investing in advanced coating technology and hands-on training for career growth.
What you'll do
- Maintain a safe working environment and promote health and safety awareness
- Ensure accuracy and efficiency before and throughout operation of the NC Grinder
- Grind parts to specified dimensions using OD/ID grinding and honing techniques on cylindrical grinding machinery
- Interpret blueprint drawings for specifications
- Clean machine, tooling, and parts, and perform minor machine maintenance as needed
- Set up and operate the NC Grinder
- Use a hand angle grinder as required
- Plan, prioritize, and organize assigned tasks
- Communicate quality issues and non-conformances to management promptly
- Use various measuring tools to ensure conformity to visual and dimensional specifications
- Participate in continuous learning opportunities
- Maintain all work areas in a clean and orderly manner
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Required qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Experience or training in a manufacturing environment
- Experience operating a grinder lathe
- Basic math, geometry, and mechanical aptitude
- Basic measurement and print-reading skills
- Experience with precision measuring tools
- Precision and strong attention to detail
- Excellent manual dexterity and ability to control application tools precisely
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Aptitude for decision-making and problem solving
- Excellent team skills; collaborative, open-minded, adaptable
- Motivation to self-advance and grow within the company
- Ability to lift 50 pounds or more
- Ability to tolerate prolonged standing and walking
- Ability to perform repetitive movement, lifting, pushing, and pulling
Preferred qualifications
- Two Year Technical Degree accreditation preferred
- Two years of previous work experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
- Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
- Passion for delivering accuracy and quality as a priority
