Overview

A progressive rural critical access hospital located in the picturesque Badlands of Eastern Montana is seeking a dedicated Occupational Therapist to join its healthcare team. What you'll do

  • Provide diagnostic evaluations and treatment to assigned patients to help them reach maximum functional performance within the community
  • Administer comprehensive evaluations and document care in accordance with departmental standards and procedures
  • Provide consultation on environmental design, adaptive equipment, patient positioning to prevent contractures, and splinting to schools, nursing homes, home care agencies, and hospital settings
  • Maintain timely and accurate patient records and reports
  • Design and administer treatment programs to increase patients' levels of functioning, using therapeutic exercises and activities to improve strength, range of motion, and fine-motor coordination
  • Instruct patients in adapted techniques and adaptive equipment use for meal preparation, home management, dressing, feeding, and other self-care skills
  • Train patients in the use of upper-extremity prosthetic devices to resume daily routines and participate in home assessments
  • Provide neurological integration therapy, including sensor-motor integration treatment and visual perceptual-motor remediation programs
  • Design and provide individualized therapy for adult learning-disabled patients
  • Design and fabricate splints as specified by doctors' prescriptions, as well as slings and adaptive equipment for patients and families
  • Administer treatment programs to traumatic brain-injured patients to improve judgment, reality orientation, and organizational skills
  • Provide prevention therapy including instruction on energy conservation, joint protection, safety techniques for sensory loss, and transfer techniques, and instruct families in proper patient transfer to avoid back strain
  • Assess patients' organizational skills, attention spans, cognitive abilities, coordination, and adaptive-equipment needs
  • Design home programs and instruct patients or families in carrying them out
  • Participate in patient support groups with the care team
  • Provide evaluations and develop plans of care

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational therapy required
  • Current registration with the American Occupational Therapy Association required
  • Licensed within the State of Montana
