Overview

A hospital-based nuclear medicine department is seeking a Nuclear Medicine Technologist to perform a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures across hospital and physician office settings. Reporting to the Supervisor of Nuclear Medicine, this role offers the chance to contribute to high-quality patient care using advanced imaging technology, including mobile nuclear cardiology services.

What you'll do

• Perform a full range of diagnostic Nuclear Medicine/Nuclear Cardiology procedures with precision and accuracy
• Conduct quality control testing on imaging equipment
• Review physician orders for appropriateness
• Prepare patients and administer radiopharmaceuticals
• Insert IV catheters as required
• Acquire and process images using gamma cameras, PACS, and nuclear medicine management systems
• Troubleshoot technical and clinical issues
• Order, prepare, and calculate doses of radiopharmaceuticals
• Manage Tc99m kits and bulk supplies
• Ensure quality control and compliance with sterile technique
• Oversee ordering, receiving, distributing, and storage of radioactive materials and waste
• Ensure compliance with departmental, hospital, and New York State regulations
• Coordinate with referring offices and radiologists for therapy planning
• Ensure all pre-testing and documentation is complete
• Administer therapeutic doses safely while following all radiation safety precautions
• Travel to physician offices across NY and PA using a mobile gamma camera system
• Safely transport, set up, and operate equipment in varied environments
• Work independently alongside physicians, nurses, and patients
• Provide compassionate, age-appropriate care for neonates through geriatrics
• Maintain patient safety and comfort throughout all procedures
• Participate in accreditation activities and departmental policy compliance
• Maintain continuing education credits and required certifications
• Attend annual training and educational programs
• Demonstrate excellent patient interaction skills in a friendly, professional, and attentive manner
• Support a positive patient experience throughout the diagnostic process

Required qualifications

• Current certification or eligibility for certification in Nuclear Medicine by NMTCB or ARRT
• Eligibility for New York State Nuclear Medicine Technologist licensure
• Valid driver's license and insurability
• BLS certification (required within 90 days of hire)

Preferred qualifications

• Formal 2- or 4-year degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology (preferred)
• One year of experience preferred, but motivated new graduates will be considered
