Overview
A field services organization serving utility, industrial, and data center clients is hiring Electrical Field Service Technicians (NETA II, NETA III, or NETA IV, or equivalent) to perform testing on medium- and high-voltage power systems. This role is based out of Charlotte, NC, with 50% travel to project sites across multiple markets.
What you'll do
- Perform acceptance and maintenance testing per NETA standards
- Test and troubleshoot switchgear (LV/MV), transformers, breakers, and relay/protection systems
- Execute LOTO and safety procedures in accordance with NFPA 70E
- Analyze test results and identify deficiencies
- Generate field reports and documentation
- Support or lead field teams depending on level: NETA II technicians execute testing under supervision, NETA III technicians lead small crews and own portions of projects, and NETA IV technicians serve as SME/Lead Tech with client-facing project ownership
What you'll need
- 2–8+ years of electrical testing experience (level dependent)
- Strong understanding of power distribution systems
- Familiarity with NETA standards and NFPA 70E
- Ability to travel; this role involves 50% travel
- Valid driver's license
- NETA Certification (NETA II, NETA III, or NETA IV) preferred, or NICET EPT Certification at an equivalent level preferred
- Candidates without NETA certification may qualify with demonstrated field experience aligned to NETA scope and the ability to sit for and pass the equivalent NETA exam within a defined timeframe (typically 6-12 months)
- OSHA 30, CPR/First Aid, and PowerDB experience preferred
- Hands-on testing experience with medium/high voltage systems preferred
- Experience with test equipment such as Megger, Doble, or Omicron preferred
- Ability to clearly explain testing procedures and results
Compensation and benefits
- NETA II (or ~2-4 years experience): $35 – $60/hour
- NETA III (or ~5-8 years experience): $65 – $75/hour
- NETA IV (Senior/SME/Lead): $75 – $85+/hour
- Typical per diem of ~$127/day, based on General Services Administration guidelines
- Company card or reimbursed expenses typically provided
- Travel coverage (lodging, flights, rental car) typically provided
- Overtime available depending on project scope
