Location: Remote (Orlando, FL metro area) | Schedule: Full-time, hourly non-exempt, remote with extensive travel | Compensation: $30 - $37 per hour

Overview

An established manufacturer of packaging and automation equipment is seeking a Field Service Technician based in the Orlando, FL area to support customers nationwide. In this remote, travel-intensive role, you'll be the hands-on expert who ensures equipment installations, startups, and ongoing service keep customer operations running smoothly. This position is essential to delivering a seamless experience from the sales handoff through long-term equipment support.

What you'll do

• Conduct customer pre-consultations, confirm site readiness, and monitor equipment startup
• Join conference calls with sales, project management, and customers to plan upcoming installations
• Coordinate equipment and system installations, verifying proper function once complete
• Calibrate HMIs, meters, timers, and temperature/seal settings per manufacturer specifications during service or startup
• Train customer operators and maintenance staff using established outlines
• Carry out routine preventative maintenance on installed equipment
• Deliver phone-based and onsite technical support to customers
• Diagnose the root cause of operating errors and implement corrective fixes
• Inspect equipment and recommend methods to reduce downtime and interruptions
• Document service and support work performed and outline next steps to keep systems running
• Stay current on product functions and applications
• Follow all safety protocols and properly maintain tools and supplies
• Help manage parts and service tool inventory
• Take on additional duties as needed to build skills and support colleagues
• Support the sales team with quoting on upcoming jobs as requested
• Help create short instructional videos and write machinery documentation for customer use

Required qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, schematics, and procedure manuals
• Ability to review and understand mechanical and electrical drawing packages
• Ability to read wiring diagrams, trace electrical circuits, and confirm proper operation per manufacturer specifications
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, controls, and instrumentation issues at a fabrication shop or customer site
• Ability to replace worn or defective parts including switches, pumps, motors, bearings, transmissions, belts, gears, control boards, elements, and wiring
• Ability to stay composed while working with customers, team members, and contractors
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency with Excel, Word, and Power Point
• Strong time management and organizational skills
• Must have a valid Driver's License and have a valid passport or ability to secure one
• High school Diploma or GED required
• Ability to perform physical tasks including standing, walking, sitting, reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, and using fingers/hands to operate tools and controls
• Ability to sit for long periods on flights or in a vehicle to reach job sites
• Manual dexterity to operate job-required equipment and tools
• Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs
• Willingness to undertake extensive travel, including some short-notice trips, with heightened on-call support (12 hours/day, 7 days/week, rotated among the team) during the November-December peak period

Preferred qualifications

• Associates' degree in a technical field or equivalent, plus 3-5 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Compensation and benefits

• Pay range of $30 - $37 per hour
