Overview
An established manufacturer of engineered products is seeking a Director of Sales to lead and grow its North American sales organization. This role is central to driving revenue growth, profitability, and market expansion across all North American markets while ensuring alignment with global strategy, and will oversee key account management and cross-functional coordination with Engineering, Product Management, and Operations.
What you'll do
- Report to the Senior Vice President and lead the direction, performance, and overall management of all North American sales activities
- Operate within a global, matrixed organization, collaborating closely with global counterparts to align strategies, customers, and market approaches
- Lead and develop a team of sales and account management professionals, including Market Managers (On-Road and Off-Road), Account Management, and Customer Relations
- Motivate, develop, and manage personnel to achieve sales targets, profitability goals, and market expansion initiatives
- Identify and execute profitable growth opportunities across North America by market segment, application, and customer, including evaluating market dynamics, competitive positioning, pricing strategies, and customer requirements
- Manage and expand relationships with key OEM customers and strategic accounts, maintaining strong ties with decision-makers in engineering, purchasing, and executive leadership
- Drive account penetration, increase share of wallet, and position the company as a preferred supplier
- Work cross-functionally with Engineering, Product Management, and Operations to align product offerings with market needs and ensure successful execution of customer programs
- Ensure sales activities and customer engagements align with product development processes and quality systems
- Monitor and manage profitability of products and accounts across the North American region
- Evaluate pricing strategies, cost structures, and product lifecycle performance, leading corrective actions such as pricing adjustments, cost-reduction initiatives, or product rationalization when needed
- Gather and analyze market intelligence, including competitor activity, customer trends, and emerging technologies, to support strategic planning and investment decisions
- Maintain a strong market presence through customer visits, industry events, and trade organizations; travel is required to support customer engagement, team leadership, and market development activities
- Drive performance, accountability, and a culture aligned with the company's Mission, Vision, and Values
- Ensure appropriate resources, processes, and systems are in place to support effective sales execution and continuous improvement
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Sales, Engineering, Business, Marketing, or a related field
- 8–12+ years in business development, strategic sales, or global account management
- Experience with multinational OEM customers in a manufacturing or engineered products environment
- Proven success leading complex, cross-regional business opportunities
- Experience managing nationwide accounts
- Experience setting expectations and goals for a sales team
Preferred qualifications
- MBA or advanced degree preferred
Compensation and benefits
- $160,000-$200,000 plus bonus
