Overview
An independent, family-owned custom contract manufacturer in the Sugar Bush, WI area is seeking a skilled CNC Machining Specialist to join its 2nd shift team. This established operator has expanded its production footprint seven times over the past two decades and serves a highly diversified industrial client base, offering steady, insulated job security and a modern facility equipped with new, high-specification machinery.
What you'll do
- Perform complete CNC setups, tooling changes, work-offset adjustments, and operations using engineering drawings, setup sheets, and process documentation
- Set up and run Vertical Machining Centers (VMCs), Horizontal Machining Centers (HMCs), and multi-axis Mazak turning equipment
- Load, machine, and inspect custom, tight-tolerance components to ensure work meets engineering prints and quality tolerances
- Maintain a dedicated workstation under the "home machine" program, monitoring tool wear and performing routine operator-level preventive maintenance (fluids, filters, coolant levels) while keeping the area safe
- Coordinate with the 2nd shift team lead and maintenance personnel to maximize machine uptime, eliminate bottlenecks, and maintain smooth production flow
Required qualifications
- 3 to 5+ years of hands-on CNC setup and operation experience on multi-axis VMCs, HMCs, or CNC turning centers
- Strong ability to read and interpret complex engineering blueprints
- Hands-on proficiency using micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and thread gauges to inspect finished work
- Demonstrated stable employment history with solid attendance and long-term commitment to past employers
- Full readiness to work the Monday – Thursday (3:00 PM – 1:00 AM) schedule, with optional voluntary Friday overtime
- Strong personal accountability, pride in craftsmanship, and practical troubleshooting skills on the shop floor
- US Citizen or Green Card holder
- Daily commuting access to the Sugar Bush, WI area
Preferred qualifications
- Mazak CNC turning center experience a plus
- Associate Degree or technical diploma in CNC Machining, Precision Machining Technology, or Tool & Die
- Ability to perform basic G-code/M-code edits at the control to optimize machining cycles and feed/speed rates
- Direct experience operating or setting up Mazatrol conversational controls alongside standard FANUC/Siemens controls
Compensation and benefits
- $32.00 – $36.00/hour base rate
