Overview

A healthcare services provider is seeking a bilingual Phlebotomist for a 3 month contract role with potential for permanent placement. This position plays a key role in ensuring accurate specimen collection and patient care in a fast-paced clinical setting.

What you'll do

• Perform blood draws, label specimens, and centrifuge samples according to established procedures
• Collect and store specimens, including blood, urine, and fecal samples, following protocol
• Clearly and courteously explain the venipuncture or specimen collection process to patients
• Demonstrate proper technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles
• Fully understand and follow physicians' orders
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and verify all test requisitions against scripts for 100% accuracy
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order
• Package specimens for transport, maintaining appropriate temperature and labeling to preserve specimen integrity
• Understand and comply with OSHA regulations
• Attend annual department trainings
• Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to respond to inquiries
• Record maintenance data and perform decontamination procedures
• Update patient information as needed

Required qualifications

• Must speak Spanish
• Minimum 3 years of experience
• Minimum 5 to 7+ years of experience
• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment, as required in some states
• Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
• High School Diploma or GED
