Overview
An outpatient pediatric therapy clinic is seeking a dedicated Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join its clinic-based pediatric team in Greensboro, AL. Working under the supervision of a Licensed Occupational Therapist (OTR), this role supports infants, toddlers, and school-aged children in building the fine motor, sensory processing, visual-motor, and self-help skills they need to thrive at home, at school, and in daily life.
What you'll do
- Implement targeted pediatric occupational therapy interventions in a clinic setting to support children's individualized plan-of-care goals, motor development, and functional independence
- Use specialized clinical space and sensory gyms to build functional skills, including fine motor grasp, tool use (writing utensils, scissors, utensils), sensory integration, self-feeding, dressing, and gross motor coordination
- Collaborate with families, caregivers, and multidisciplinary clinic team members (speech therapists, physical therapists) to provide home exercise programs, sensory strategies, and adaptive recommendations for home and school environments
- Document clinical progress toward functional milestones, complete timely session notes, and assist the supervising OTR with periodic re-evaluations and treatment plan updates
- Use and maintain clinic therapy equipment (swings, sensory tools, adaptive seating, fine motor manipulation stations) tailored to each child's treatment needs
- Maintain warm, supportive communication with parents and caregivers to explain therapeutic activities, share home strategy ideas, and support family-centered progress
Required qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) program
- Active (or eligible for) COTA license from the Alabama State Board of Occupational Therapy
- Current NBCOT certification
- Pediatric CPR/First Aid certification
- Strong interpersonal communication, patience, creative play-based problem-solving, and a deep understanding of pediatric developmental milestones and sensory integration techniques
Preferred qualifications
- Prior experience working in a pediatric clinic, outpatient therapy setting, or early intervention environment preferred
