Overview

A school dedicated to supporting children with disabilities is seeking an Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) to join their Bronx, NY location. New graduates are welcome to apply. This role plays a key part in helping students build the functional skills they need to thrive.

What you'll do

• Assist the occupational therapist in evaluating a patient's functional abilities and needs
• Carry out treatment plans designed by the occupational therapist, including leading therapeutic activities such as exercises to improve motor skills, sensory integration activities, and self-care training
• Teach patients how to use assistive devices to enhance their independence in daily tasks
• Closely observe progress during therapy sessions, document observations and changes in function, and report findings to the occupational therapist
• Instruct patients and their caregivers on proper techniques for completing daily activities and home exercise programs

Required qualifications

• Associate degree in Occupational Therapy Assisting from an accredited program
• Valid New York state licensure as an Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA)
