Overview
A full-service, tier-one manufacturer specializing in the design and production of lighting equipment, accessories, and electronic components is seeking an experienced Injection Molding Engineer to join its Ohio facility. This role is central to new model development, production engineering, and process improvement within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
What you'll do
- Assist with new model development and trial schedules
- Analyze scrap problems and manufacturing defects, developing solutions to control manufacturing costs
- Provide technical insight on inventory, manufacturing costs, and capital investments to ensure reliable financial information
- Participate in capital investment projects, including installation of new equipment and processes for new model development
- Apply engineering specifications to meet production needs and improve production
- Evaluate and implement new technologies to solve problems, reduce costs, increase productivity, or improve product quality
- Use current technology to evaluate manufacturing performance and safeguard profitability and quality
- Provide technical support to production, process, and maintenance teams to reduce downtime and increase productivity
- Improve new model development including start-up, tooling design, process development, process simulations, robot programming, and process confirmation
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Plastics, Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering
- 5 – 10 years of injection molding and robotics experience
- Proficiency with CAD / 3-d modeling
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent project management skills
- Ability to work in a general office environment approximately 3 hours per day and a manufacturing environment approximately 5 hours per day
- Ability to work around cranes and injection molding machines
- Availability to travel 3 days per month
- Availability for off-shift work
