Overview
A well-established company in the custom homebuilding industry is seeking a General Operations Manager to lead branch operations, sales, and production in the Richmond, VA (Petersburg) market. This role is central to driving growth, managing teams, and ensuring high-quality delivery across multiple concurrent home builds.
What you'll do
- Review new leads with the Sales Team
- Review advertising strategy and approve budget
- Provide weekly updates to the Division President
- Review sales pipeline, contracts, starts, warranty items, and settlements
- Review projections and challenges with managers and corporate leadership
- Conduct job inspections when necessary
- Lead final review meetings and plan reviews
- Recruit, hire, train, mentor, and supervise employees, subcontractors, and vendors
- Leverage networking expertise to build local industry relationships
- Negotiate contracts and hire subcontractors and suppliers
- Review overhead costs and general P&L
- Address customer concerns and communicate resolutions
Required qualifications
- Strong knowledge of custom residential construction
- Familiarity with production building (managing multiple homes at one time)
- Strong work ethic and problem-solving skills
- Servant-leader management style
- Strong leadership abilities with a positive, driving energy
Preferred qualifications
- Familiarity with South Richmond VA area
- Existing knowledge of local vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers to enable quicker acclimation to operations
Compensation and benefits

- Competitive salary (average ~$125,000-$140,000/year DOE) plus bonuses
- Bonus structure based on branch profit/sales (3% of volume)
