Overview
A prominent regional healthcare system is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) - Operating Room (OR) Circulator to join its surgical services division. This role offers an experienced RN a supportive perioperative environment with strong nurse-to-patient ratios and a culture of surgical excellence, set in a scenic Montana community known for its quality of life and outdoor recreation.
What you'll do
- Plan, implement, and evaluate comprehensive clinical care for patients throughout the intraoperative phase of surgery.
- Ensure all patient care, safety interventions, and surgical documentation strictly adhere to AORN standards, recommended practices, and institutional guidelines.
- Act as the patient advocate and coordinator in the OR, managing sterile field setup, patient positioning, and room workflow.
- Provide clinical direction and collaborative support to Surgical Technicians, Instrument Technicians, and Materials Management clerks within the room.
- Work in close coordination with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and the Nurse Manager to ensure excellent patient outcomes.
- Participate in the departmental on-call rotation to support urgent, emergent, or scheduled after-hours surgical cases.
- Maintain the ability to dual-function as a Scrub Nurse when clinically or operationally indicated.
Required qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program; Associate Degree in Nursing required.
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the State of Montana (or immediate compact/endorsement eligibility).
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required.
- Strong foundational knowledge of basic nursing principles and rigorous application of the principles of asepsis.
- Customary computer/keyboarding skills for electronic charting.
Preferred qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
- CNOR national certification highly desired.
- Previous professional Operating Room (OR) circulating experience highly preferred.
- Ability or training to function as a Scrub Nurse is a distinct advantage.
