Location: Omaha, NE | Schedule: Full-time, on-site | Compensation: $80,000-$100,000 plus bonus

Overview

An established manufacturer of welded, machined, and formed metal products is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer to lead quality initiatives across its Omaha, NE facility. This role is central to maintaining ISO 9001 standards, driving advanced product quality planning, and ensuring products consistently meet engineering specifications, welding codes, and customer tolerances.

What you'll do

  • Participate in and lead Quality in advanced product quality planning (APQP) activities
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and QA systems
  • Develop control plans and PFMEA quality plans for legacy or new products and projects
  • Manage product and process qualifications, including CPK studies and Gage R&R
  • Monitor rejects and CARs performance and trends for the assigned site
  • Lead advanced quality methodologies (DMAIC, 8D, mistake proofing, process control, etc.) across the organization
  • Drive advanced root cause analysis
  • Oversee QMS certification compliance
  • Manage audit schedules as assigned
  • Standardize tools and processes
  • Lead KATA, coaching sessions, and value stream maps
  • Lead global quality initiatives
  • Lead design-for-quality assignments
  • Handle escalations from Quality Engineers, Sales, and other functions
  • Supervise direct employees and prioritize their workload
  • Train the Quality team in fundamental quality tools
  • Conduct performance reviews and advise on individual development and training
  • Mentor engineers and encourage skill development

Required qualifications

  • 4-year degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, plus four or more years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 2+ years as a Certified Quality Engineer
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, weldments, assemblies, and fabrication
  • Mechanical aptitude to assemble/disassemble parts per engineering drawings
  • Proficiency in engineering drawing interpretation and GD&T
  • Proficiency with failure analysis and root cause investigation methods (3L5Ws, Fishbone, Fault Tree)
  • Strong experience with Corrective Actions, 8Ds, MRBs, and Rapid Response activities
  • Knowledge and familiarity with developing and utilizing DFMEA, PFMEA, and Control Plans
  • Professional communication and interfacing skills with customers and suppliers
  • Strong cross-functional leadership and communication skills
  • Advanced skill in Microsoft Office 365, with required fluency in Excel

Preferred qualifications

  • 3+ years of practical experience in APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) preferred
  • Ability to develop and utilize statistical and data analysis tools such as Minitab, Sas Jmp, Macro Excel Sheets, and Power BI preferred

Compensation and benefits

  • Salary range of $80,000-$100,000 plus bonus
