Overview

An established, family-operated industrial hardware distributor is seeking a Route Sales Manager to operate a fully stocked mobile store serving customers across a defined territory. The company supports a wide range of industries, including transportation, aviation, facilities maintenance, aerospace, medical, military, marine, power generation, manufacturing, government, and heavy equipment. This role is central to bringing industrial hardware products and service directly to customers' worksites.

What you'll do

• Prospect and develop new sales opportunities through research, referrals, and calls on businesses near existing customers
• Make face-to-face calls on both cold and warm sales prospects
• Present products and services using sample boards, product demonstrations, and the mobile store itself
• Maintain the cleanliness, operation, marketing, and overall functionality of the mobile store
• Submit complete and accurate daily business reports detailing sales orders and prospect calls
• Continually maintain customer contact information, including notes, names, phone numbers, and addresses, using company software

Required qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Must reside within the assigned territory
• Must be able to purchase or lease an approved mobile store vehicle
• Must maintain a clean driving history
• Physical ability to kneel and bend to the floor on a regular basis
• Strong tenured work background with no job hopping; ideally no more than 3 companies over the past 10 years
• Excellent analytical, reasoning, and organizational skills
• Proficiency with databases, spreadsheets, email, and common business applications
• Demonstrated ability to work independently with a proven history of goal attainment

Preferred qualifications

• Outside industrial sales experience, especially in route or industrial sales
