Overview
An established manufacturer of refrigerated merchandisers is seeking a Product Engineer specializing in New Product Development and Design to Value (NPD/DTV) to drive innovation and cost optimization across its product lines. This role is critical to advancing product standardization, modularity, and cost competitiveness while supporting the development of refrigerated merchandisers.
What you'll do
- Apply value engineering methodologies to optimize cost position on existing products
- Collaborate with Strategic Sourcing and Manufacturing Engineering to implement cost-saving projects
- Manage DTV projects from concept to completion, including scheduling and cross-functional communication
- Brainstorm new and innovative solutions to achieve product standardization and modularity
- Develop CAD solid models and engineering simulations of proposed concepts
- Collaborate with Product Management to validate solutions with customers
- Develop test plans and work with the Engineering Lab to validate solutions
- Conduct field tests to validate solutions
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously and solve difficult, complex problems
Required qualifications
- B.S. in Engineering
- 1-3 years of experience in design of industrial products
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with product design and solid modeling in a manufacturing environment
- Experience in refrigeration, air conditioning, dehumidifier, sealed-system, airflow thermal management, or similar design theory and application
- Experience in practical application of Six Sigma and Lean tools
- MS Mechanical Engineering
- Strong track record of NPD and DTV accomplishments
- Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with a high degree of product and process complexity
- Demonstrated ability to deliver results in a matrixed, functional organization with the ability to influence stakeholders across functional groups
- Innovative mindset with the ability to generate solutions to customer needs
- Organized, with experience in business case analyses and project status reporting
- Proficient at MCAD modeling of proposed solutions
- Lean/Six Sigma experience a plus
