Overview
An established legal practice focused on creditors' rights and litigation is seeking a Maryland-licensed attorney to manage and resolve active litigation matters. This role is central to driving case resolutions and supporting clients through the litigation process.
What you'll do
- Handle negotiations and work toward resolution of active litigation matters
- Draft, review, prepare, and file pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and other case-related documents
- Appear at hearings and trials throughout your designated region; mileage and approved travel expenses are reimbursed
- Coordinate with internal team members, clients, and opposing counsel to move cases toward timely and appropriate resolutions
Required qualifications
- Must be licensed and in good standing to practice law in the State of Maryland
- Strong understanding of civil litigation, courtroom procedures, and case management
- Ability to evaluate legal matters, develop resolution strategies, and negotiate effective settlements
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases, deadlines, and competing priorities
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office and other technology in a professional legal environment
- Ability to work independently while maintaining professionalism, confidentiality, and a high level of client service
Preferred qualifications
- Previous experience in collections, creditors' rights, debt recovery, or litigation is preferred, but industry-specific training is available for the right candidate
Compensation and benefits
- No billable hour requirement — focus on moving cases forward and delivering results rather than tracking billable time
- Salary + additional compensation tied to settlements successfully negotiated
