Overview
An established manufacturer is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support new model start-ups and drive continuous improvement across current production lines. This role bridges engineering and manufacturing, focusing on automation, robotics, and process innovation to enhance product quality and cost efficiency.
What you'll do
- Support Engineering, Automation, Robotics, and Manufacturing Technology projects
- Train maintenance technicians on automated equipment, robotics systems, controls, and troubleshooting techniques
- Monitor, analyze, and report equipment performance, robot utilization, and automation effectiveness
- Develop new model assembly processes incorporating automation and robotic solutions
- Develop specifications for equipment, robotic cells, fixtures, vision systems, and jigs
- Assist with process development for complex products involving robotics and automated systems
- Create and maintain new model project schedules and tracking
- Ensure smooth transition of new models from Engineering to Manufacturing
- Design, build, integrate, and commission medium-complexity machines, robotic work cells, fixtures, and automation systems
- Review development drawings, identify automation opportunities, develop cost estimates, and improve manufacturability
- Develop, modify, and troubleshoot PLC, HMI, robot, motion control, and automation programs
- Create and maintain engineering documentation, automation standards, and robotics procedures to ensure ISO compliance
- Evaluate emerging automation technologies and recommend improvements to safety, quality, productivity, and cost
- Lead root cause analysis and problem-solving activities for machine efficiency
- Generate schedules and implement corrective action plans
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on smart manufacturing solutions
- Support preventive maintenance and lifecycle management for robotic and automation systems
- Lead robotic automation projects from concept through deployment and production support
- Design and implement machine vision inspection systems and AI-enabled manufacturing solutions
- Lead automation-related safety risk assessments and ensure compliance
- Evaluate and justify capital expenditures for automation and robotics projects
Required qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering field
- 4–7 years of experience in a Manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and automated manufacturing systems
- Proven project management skills with experience leading projects
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities focused on manufacturing and process improvement
- Understanding of manufacturing safety standards
