Overview

An established manufacturer is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer - Automation to support new model launches and drive continuous improvement across current production lines. This role bridges engineering and manufacturing, applying automation and robotics expertise to elevate product quality, reduce cost, and streamline processes.

What you'll do

  • Support Engineering, Automation, Robotics, and Manufacturing Technology projects
  • Train maintenance technicians on automated equipment, robotics systems, controls, and troubleshooting techniques
  • Monitor, analyze, and report equipment performance, robot utilization, and automation effectiveness, initiating continuous improvement activities
  • Develop new model assembly processes, incorporating automation and robotic solutions where practical
  • Develop specifications for equipment, robotic cells, fixtures, vision systems, and jigs
  • Assist with new model process development for complex products involving robotics and automated manufacturing systems
  • Create and maintain new model project schedules and ensure accurate project tracking
  • Ensure smooth transition of new models from Engineering to Manufacturing
  • Design, build, integrate, and commission medium-complexity machines, robotic work cells, fixtures, and automation systems for new and existing models
  • Review new model development drawings, identify automation opportunities, develop cost estimations, improve manufacturability, and address quality concerns
  • Develop, modify, and troubleshoot PLC, HMI, robot, motion control, and automation programs
  • Create or modify engineering documentation, automation standards, robotics procedures, and PE-1 documentation to maintain ISO compliance
  • Evaluate emerging automation technologies and recommend solutions to improve safety, quality, productivity, and cost performance
  • Lead root cause analysis, problem-solving, automation improvements, and machine efficiency initiatives
  • Generate schedules and implement corrective action plans for assigned projects
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop smart manufacturing solutions
  • Support preventive maintenance and lifecycle management for robotic, automation, and control systems
  • Lead robotic automation projects from concept through deployment and production support
  • Design and implement machine vision inspection systems and AI-enabled manufacturing solutions
  • Lead automation-related safety risk assessments and ensure compliance
  • Evaluate and justify capital expenditures for automation and robotics projects

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • 4–7 years of experience in a Manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated knowledge of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and automated manufacturing systems
  • Proven project management skills with experience leading projects
  • Demonstrated analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities with a focus on manufacturing and process improvement
  • Understanding of manufacturing safety standards
