Maintenance Manager – Corrugated Packaging

Overview
An established corrugated packaging manufacturer that operates on-site power-generation equipment such as boilers and turbines is seeking a Maintenance Manager to lead plant maintenance and engineering support functions. This role safeguards plant reliability and efficiency by directing preventive and predictive maintenance programs, overseeing capital and betterment projects, and managing the maintenance workforce.
What you'll do
- Perform and evaluate predictive and preventative maintenance activities, including performance, functional, and surveillance testing of plant systems and components
- Use analysis techniques to identify developing equipment issues that could cause forced outages
- Support development of preventative and scheduled maintenance activities and outage planning
- Evaluate equipment failures and assist with Root Cause Analysis to prevent recurrence
- Work with the Operations Manager to track service hours, equivalent starts, and other operating parameters to update Major Maintenance Inspection schedules for combustion turbines, and update related expense projections
- Track component repairs and schedules to ensure availability of replacement or refurbished parts
- Direct maintenance department personnel to ensure generating requirements, plant efficiency, and safety/environmental standards are met
- Ensure facility work orders are completed and closed out using the CMMS
- Assist the General Manager in developing annual maintenance budgets
- Own the site CMMS program (Maximo), scheduling work, prioritizing work orders, maintaining inventory, and procuring parts and materials
- Coach, train, and develop the maintenance team to maintain appropriate skill sets and qualifications
- Investigate plant problems, incidents, accidents, and unusual events, providing analyses, recommendations, and follow-up plans
- Conduct inspections of boilers, pressure vessels, turbines, generators, and auxiliary equipment during forced and annual outages
- Prepare specifications, evaluate bid proposals, and monitor contractor work for contract compliance, including QA/QC oversight during outages
- Coordinate with corporate engineering, external maintenance and engineering firms, manufacturer representatives, and vendors, and maintain frequent internal contact with plant personnel to resolve problems and exchange information
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, or equivalent
- Minimum of 10 years relevant power plant-related experience
- Ability to be on call at any time to address emergency conditions or operational and maintenance problems, including standby duty
- Occasional overnight travel required
- Must be physically able to transit plant facilities and stairways
Preferred qualifications
- Maximo CMMS experience desired
- Fluent in MS Office suite, with an emphasis on Excel
