Overview
A civil construction company in Nashville, TN is seeking an experienced Civil Preconstruction Estimator to lead its estimating efforts. This on-site role plays a critical part in preparing competitive cost estimates and driving the company's ability to win and execute civil construction projects.
What you'll do
- Analyze drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare detailed cost estimates
- Lead the estimating and bid processes for civil projects
- Identify labor, materials, and time requirements by studying proposals and plans
- Solicit and analyze subcontractor and supplier quotes
- Prepare bid packages and present final estimates to senior management
- Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits when necessary
- Provide value engineering recommendations
- Maintain historical cost data and develop estimating templates and tools
What you'll need
- 3+ years of experience as an estimator in the civil construction industry
- Proven track record estimating a range of civil projects (excavation, sitework, utilities, etc.)
- Proficiency with relevant software preferred: Bid-To-Win, HeavyBid, AutoCAD, AGTEK, Excel
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities
- Strong attention to detail
