Overview
An established manufacturer experiencing strong growth is seeking a Controls Engineer to support its expanding operations near Oneida, NY. This role is critical to designing, installing, and maintaining the machine control systems that keep production running efficiently across multiple facilities.
What you'll do
- Design and develop machine control systems using AutoCAD, including sizing and selection of VFDs, motors, filters, protection devices, PLC's, and HMI's
- Program, modify, and troubleshoot Allen-Bradley PLCs and ladder logic systems, along with providing Siemens controls support
- Lead installation, integration, and commissioning of new manufacturing equipment across multiple local facilities (approximately 30% travel)
- Provide hands-on electrical and controls troubleshooting support to maintenance teams, including equipment diagnostics, upgrades, wiring, and real-time machine issue resolution
- Connect to equipment, diagnose control system issues, and modify or develop PLC logic to support production and operational improvements
Required qualifications
- AAS or BS in Engineering and 5+ years of experience (equivalent years of experience considered in lieu of formal degree)
- Experience with PLC's, HMI's, and AutoCAD
- Familiarity with National Electrical Code and machine safety standards
- Must be eligible to work in US without restriction indefinitely
