Location: Howell, MI | Schedule: Full-time, on-site, hours 8am to 4:30pm with afterhours rotation and unlimited overtime available | Compensation: $35-45/hr base ($35,000-$45,000 equivalent)
Overview
A long-standing, plumber-owned residential service company is adding a Residential Service Plumber to its team. This is a hands-on field role for a plumber who enjoys working independently in occupied homes, communicating directly with homeowners, and representing the business with integrity and professionalism.
What you'll do
- Diagnose and repair residential plumbing issues including leaks, clogs, fixture problems, water heaters, sump pumps, drain lines, water lines, and related systems
- Install, replace, and service fixtures, faucets, toilets, garbage disposals, water heaters, sump pumps, softeners, and other residential plumbing components
- Perform drain clearing, basic sewer/water line troubleshooting, and general residential service work
- Read work orders, assess job conditions, identify required materials, and complete assigned jobs efficiently and safely
- Communicate clearly with homeowners about findings, recommended repairs, pricing/options, and next steps
- Maintain a clean, organized work area and protect the customer's home while work is being performed
- Complete accurate documentation, service notes, photos, invoices, and job closeout information
- Follow all plumbing codes, company standards, safety procedures, and quality expectations
- Maintain tools, equipment, vehicle cleanliness, and inventory as assigned
- Work as part of a team while also being able to manage service calls independently
- Offer customers service options without hardcore sales tactics
Required qualifications
- Residential plumbing service experience required
- Strong troubleshooting skills across common residential plumbing systems
- Ability to communicate professionally with homeowners and team members
- Valid driver's license and clean/reliable driving record
- Ability to pass background check and any required employment screening
- Ability to lift, carry, kneel, crawl, work in tight spaces, and safely perform physical plumbing work
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with water heaters, tankless systems, sump pumps, water treatment, drain cleaning, and sewer/water line repair
- Experience using tablets, service software, or digital invoicing/job documentation
- Backflow, boiler, gas piping, or additional trade certifications are a plus
Compensation and benefits
- Base pay range of $35-45/hr, equivalent to $35,000-$45,000
- Pay increase for on-call rotation
