Overview
A major corporation in the greater Knoxville, TN area is seeking an HR Manager for its Trucking / Transportation division, which employs 450+ truck drivers and support personnel including terminal managers, dispatchers, routers, and driver supervisors. This role leads a small HR team and plays a critical part in ensuring compliant, well-supported driver operations across multiple sites.
What you'll do
- Lead and mentor two HR Generalists / Recruiters
- Oversee Driver Background Checks, Pre-Employment Medical Screenings, and DOT Physicals to ensure coordination and compliance
- Take a hands-on role in interviewing, hiring, and on-boarding new drivers
- Maintain existing employee benefit programs
- Develop new programs focused on retention, employee development, and training
- Support multi-site HR operations across the division (minimal travel required)
Required qualifications
- BS degree
- PHR or SPHR certification
- Experience with FMCSA Compliance and Driver Qualification files
- Previous experience in the Truck Driving / Transportation industry or related Logistics field
