Overview
An established professional services firm in the Phoenix area is seeking an experienced Trusts and Estates Tax Manager to lead fiduciary tax engagements and provide high-level planning and compliance support to a diverse client base. This role is central to ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant tax filings while mentoring junior staff and helping the firm stay ahead of evolving tax and estate law.
What you'll do
- Review and prepare federal and state fiduciary income tax returns (Form 1041), estate tax returns (Form 706), and related filings
- Lead multiple tax engagements to deliver quality tax preparation, research, planning, and consulting services for a variety of clients
- Ensure compliance with legal and tax requirements for trust and estate entities
- Communicate technical issues, recommendations, and opportunities to clients and prospects, including in-person meetings
- Provide guidance and training to junior staff, and collaborate within an integrated team to meet client and firm deadlines
- Stay current with changes in fiduciary, tax, and estate law, and participate in ongoing professional development
- Take a proactive approach to process improvement and regulatory changes
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5+ years of specialized experience in trust and estate tax
- Self-motivated with high ethical standards and integrity
- Client-focused mindset with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Excellent communication skills
Preferred qualifications
- CPA strongly preferred
Compensation and benefits
- Base salary of $100,000 - $150,000, depending on experience
