Location: Oceanside, CA | Schedule: Full-time, on-site, 8 hr shift, 6AM to 6PM Monday–Friday depending on location, with weekend rotation (approximately 1 weekend per month) | Compensation: $20.25 per hour

Overview

A healthcare services provider is seeking a Phlebotomist for a contract position with strong potential to convert to a permanent role. This role is essential to ensuring accurate, safe, and courteous specimen collection for patients across multiple service locations.

What you'll do

• Perform blood draws and other specimen collection (e.g., urine or fecal) using straight and/or butterfly needles
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and verify all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for 100% accuracy
• Explain venipuncture and specimen collection procedures clearly and courteously to patients
• Collect and store specimens according to established procedures and required temperatures
• Package and transport specimens while maintaining specimen integrity per protocol
• Record maintenance data, perform decontamination, and update patient information
• Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations
• Attend annual department trainings
• Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries
• Float to other locations as needed, with mileage expenses paid

Required qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment, as required in some states
• Minimum 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
• High School Diploma or GED
• 1-4 years of experience
• Clean driving record and reliable transportation required
