Senior Estimator – Civil Construction – Nashville

Overview
An established civil construction firm serving the Nashville, TN market is seeking a Senior Civil Estimator to lead its preconstruction department. Civil construction work involves complex technical, equipment, and geological considerations, and this role will play a direct part in winning and executing paving and related projects.
What you'll do
- Analyze drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare detailed cost estimates
- Lead bid processes for public and private sector projects
- Identify labor, materials, and time requirements by studying proposals and plans
- Solicit and analyze subcontractor and supplier quotes
- Prepare bid packages and present final estimates to senior management
- Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits when necessary
- Provide value engineering recommendations
- Maintain historical cost data and develop estimating templates and tools
- Mentor junior estimators and contribute to process improvements
Required qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as an estimator in the civil industry
- Proven track record of estimating a range of civil projects (excavation, paving, grading, etc.)
- Excellent communication, client/business development, and negotiation abilities
- Strong sense of urgency on submitting complete bids on time
Preferred qualifications
- Proficient in Excel and Bluebeam
- Experience with HeavyBid, Bid-To-Win, or AGTEK preferred but not required
