Mechanical Design Engineer – Heavy Equipment

Overview
Our client is a well-established and expanding manufacturer serving the electric power industry. Due to continued growth, they have an immediate need for a Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design and development of new products for the electric utility market while also supporting engineering efforts on existing product lines.
What you'll do
- Develop new product part and assembly designs, drawings, and specifications
- Evaluate and recommend specifications to ensure products meet technical and functional requirements
- Review and analyze proposed product changes
- Perform feasibility, functional, and quality testing of designs
- Perform finite element analysis (FEA) and related calculations
- Manage prototype development and testing
- Facilitate creation and approval of engineering drawing changes
- Recommend and follow reliable, efficient, and cost-effective procedures
- Write test reports for internal use and for publication
- Collaborate with other engineering staff to ensure project milestones are met and timelines are followed
- Provide technical support to Field Sales personnel
Required qualifications
- BSME or equivalent
- Proficient with 3D modeling software (preferably SolidWorks or ProE)
Preferred qualifications
- 2-5 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
- Understanding of manufacturing processes preferred (i.e. casting, molding, machining, forming, extruding, etc.)
