Location: La Grande, OR (Northeast Oregon) | Schedule: Full-Time, Permanent, four 10-hour days, Day Shift, 1:8 call (phone call only) | Compensation: up to $88k per year

Overview

A well-regarded hospital in a scenic rural area of Northeast Oregon is expanding its behavioral healthcare team and seeking a dedicated Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). This role plays a key part in supporting patients and families through complex medical and emotional challenges while offering a strong work-life balance in a close-knit community setting.

What you'll do

• Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments, mental health screenings, and diagnostic evaluations for patients and families
• Provide evidence-based crisis intervention, short-term counseling, and medical social work services for patients with acute or chronic medical conditions
• Partner with physicians, mid-level providers, and nursing staff to coordinate care transitions between inpatient units, outpatient clinics, and community-based resources
• Support, counsel, and educate patients and families on disease pathology, coping mechanisms, and complex healthcare decisions
• Identify barriers to health and safety, facilitate emergency interventions when necessary, and arrange post-discharge care, including home health, rehabilitation, or medical equipment
• Maintain accurate, timely, and secure documentation of patient encounters in the electronic health record system for billing and continuity of care
• Participate in multidisciplinary team rounds to discuss complex cases, optimize clinical outcomes, and champion holistic patient wellness

Required qualifications

• Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from an accredited institution
• Current, active license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or eligible for immediate licensure in the state of Oregon
• 1–2 years of clinical social work experience
• Comfort with and genuine interest in living and practicing within a rural community setting
• Excellent crisis intervention, communication, and interpersonal skills with a strong collaborative mindset

Preferred qualifications

• Experience within a hospital, clinic, or integrated healthcare setting preferred

Compensation and benefits

• Competitive total compensation opportunity of up to $88k per year
• RVU bonus based on annual threshold
• Commencement bonus of $10k
• $8,000 annual allowance for CME, licensing, dues, and subscriptions, plus paid CME time
