Overview

A well-regarded home health agency is seeking an experienced, leadership-minded Director of Nursing (RN) to oversee clinical care standards and lead its dedicated nursing team. This pivotal role involves managing and supervising nursing staff, ensuring strict regulatory compliance, and developing operational policies to deliver exceptional, high-quality care in a home setting, while also overseeing all care partners and providing the guidance and direction necessary for optimal care delivery.

What you'll do

  • Coordinate the delivery of home care services that reflect agency philosophy and standards, and actively monitor the clinical status of all clients
  • Manage the assignment of nurses to client visits, optimize the per diem nurse supervisor budget, and assist in the hiring process (interviewing, orientation, competency testing)
  • Evaluate nurse supervisors and care partners
  • Ensure the safe and high-quality delivery of home care services, maintaining strict adherence to local, state, federal, and HIPAA regulations
  • Perform client assessments as needed during any stage of the client relationship, including initial assessments, monitoring visits, re-assessments, or discharges
  • Develop the agency's In-Service training program and coordinate guest presenters or directly deliver educational content to all staff
  • Coordinate with community agencies to provide continuity of care, and communicate effectively with clients, family members, and Care Partners
  • Remain available via telephone to provide guidance and conduct home visits, if necessary, during designated Agency On-Call Hours
  • Maintain a positive, professional attitude, actively participate in office meetings, and represent the organization at community events
  • Report to the CEO

Required qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing issued by the New Jersey Board of Nursing
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or related health-related field with at least 2 years of professional RN experience in community or home health settings
  • In lieu of a BSN degree: 3 years of professional RN experience in community health and/or home health, featuring progressive nursing responsibilities
  • Proven background providing nursing services across patient home environments and assisted living facilities, with expert-level knowledge of New Jersey rules, regulations, and state compliance standards for nursing leadership
  • Exceptional prioritization, multitasking, and organizational skills, with a demonstrated ability to remain flexible in a dynamic environment
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Physical capability to perform required nursing duties (lifting, bending, standing) and the leadership resilience needed to thrive in a fast-paced, high-stress care environment

Compensation and benefits

  • $95,000 – $110,000 per year
  • 401(k) with a 1% match, eligible from Day 1
  • 3 weeks of Paid Time Off (2 weeks vacation and 1 week sick time)
