Overview

A home infusion pharmacy provider is seeking a Compounding Pharmacy Technician to support its Charleston, SC operations. In this role, you will assist with the compounding of sterile preparations and the assembly of patient supplies and equipment under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, playing a key part in ensuring patients receive safe, timely, and high-quality infusion therapies.

What you'll do

• Perform sterile compounding in accordance with USP 797 standards
• Follow all standard operating procedures, USP 797, and State Board of Pharmacy regulations and requirements
• Clean all work surfaces, equipment, floors, ceilings, and walls according to USP 797 and SOPs
• Maintain sterile compounding competencies
• Ensure all drugs prepared by the pharmacy are placed in appropriate, adequately labeled containers
• Monitor and document environmental conditions daily, including temperatures, humidity, and pressure readings, and notify the Pharmacist in Charge immediately when readings fall out of range
• Accurately maintain On Track Task Logs daily
• Manage timely refills to ensure patients receive treatments without interruption
• Upload delivery tickets into Care Tend and confirm delivery tickets once a signed Admission Agreement is on file
• Conduct patient follow-up assessment calls and complete thorough documentation of pertinent information
• Efficiently order medication to keep inventory well-stocked and meet patient needs
• Enter supplies into the inventory system (Vital Systems)
• Properly store drugs and supplies to uphold safety standards and maintain an organized workspace
• Routinely inspect shelves for supplies needing reorder to prevent shortages
• Conduct a monthly inventory of all supplies stored in the ambulatory infusion suite
• Promptly report any misconduct, suspicious, or unethical activities to Human Resources
• Build positive relationships with clients through attentive, friendly, and proactive support
• Exhibit strong written and verbal communication with colleagues, supervisors, patients, and referral sources
• Assist with quality control and performance improvement activities as directed by the Pharmacist in Charge
• Report product incidents as required by company policy
• Work as a team with other employees to ensure tasks are completed
• Complete other duties as assigned by supervisor

Required qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Meet all State Board of Pharmacy requirements
• Registered with the State Board of Pharmacy if applicable in state(s) of service area(s)
• Ability to regularly stand, walk, and sit, as well as talk and hear
• Ability to use hands to operate office equipment and vehicles
• Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds
• Specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus

Preferred qualifications

• Completion of pharmacy technician training preferred
• Experience in compounding or a healthcare setting is preferred
